Trent Alexander-Arnold hailed Liverpool's resilience after they bounced back from their surprise defeat to West Ham to return from the international break in style, beating Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield.

The Gunners went into the game on the back of a 10-match unbeaten run in all competitions, but Jurgen Klopp's side, who are 5/1 to reclaim the Premier League title, put them in their place.

Two assists for Trent

Alexander-Arnold grabbed two assists during a classy display on Merseyside, teeing up Sadio Mane for the opener from a free-kick.

A mistake from Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares allowed Diogo Jota to score as he latched onto a loose pass before rounding Aaron Ramsdale in the Arsenal goal.

We have bounced back the best way we could. A very good performance.

Mohamed Salah volleyed home a Mane cross to make it three-nil before Alexander-Arnold played in Takumi Minamino for the Reds' fourth, just 48 seconds after the Japanese ace had stepped off the bench.

Liverpool's emphatic victory helps them jump to second in the Premier League table.

Perfect response

Having lost to West Ham in London before the international break, Alexander-Arnold says Saturday's showing was exactly what his side needed.

He told Sky Sports: "A team of our quality shouldn't be losing games. The way the league is going, any loss is a bad loss. We have bounced back the best way we could. A very good performance.

"It was exactly what we needed - nothing more and nothing less. They came as two banks of four and were tough to break down, but we scored our goals and put the game to bed. To see out the clean sheet is very good."
