Ellsberg tuned up for the upcoming Brisbane Winter Carnival by taking on Royal Ascot bound sprinter Nature Strip in a jump-out on Tuesday.

The Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou-trained son of Spill The Beans is now due to head for the Group 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup on Saturday, for which he is a 10/1 chance.

Ryan was pleased with the work that he saw and is happy to send the four-year-old to this weekend's 1300-metre contest at Eagle Farm. The Stradbroke Handicap is also on the agenda just a fortnight later.
