02 December 2021 09:36:55 CET

King Of Swing got ahead of Boncel Benjamin at the line to take out the third Inter Dominion heat at Bathurst on Wednesday night.

The star pacer is seen as the one to beat in the Inter Dominion series and had to earn his latest victory after being pushed all the way.

Hard-fought win

With Jack Trainor in the sulky, Boncel Benjamin took off at the front with the intention of making King Of Swing work and it almost paid off.

However the champion pacer made a dive for the line to beat Boncel Benjamin with Max Delight finishing strongly to take third, while Loorrim Lake came in fourth.

King Of Swing reigns supreme

It capped a memorable night for Team McCarthy who won all three of the Bathurst heats.

"It's hard to put into words what these horses have done tonight. I'm just so proud of all our horses and their efforts tonight."

McCarthy delight

Reinsman Luke McCarthy was in the sulky for all three of the wins and had not but praise for his horses after the win.

"He had to earn that tonight," Luke McCarthy said of King Of Swing. "He did a lot of work and still had a real dig in the straight, he went super.

"This horse and Expensive Ego, they just have amazing constitutions, they seem to thrive on all these hard races. They'll go home and eat up and take all this in their stride."
