NRL: Elliott ready to repay the faith

02 December 2021 10:49:21 CET

Adam Elliott is ready to grasp his fresh start with the Canberra Raiders and has vowed to repay the faith that has been shown in him by the club.

The Raiders are priced at 20/1 to win the 2022 NRL grand final and have Elliott on board following his exit from the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Fresh start

Elliott was in the Bulldogs system for 12 years before being sent packing by the club in controversial circumstances at the end of the 2021 NRL campaign.

The Raiders have thrown the 27-year-old a lifeline and with his personal life also going well, Elliott is optimistic for the future.

Croker concerns for Raiders

"I'm really proud to put the Raiders kit on," he told reporters after being unveiled by the Raiders. "The fresh start has re-energised me.

"For now it's just head down, bum up. My life off the field at the moment is the happiest I've been. It's full steam ahead."

Role in the side

It remains to be seen where Elliott will play in the Raiders side, but he says he is happy to do whatever is best for the team.

"I definitely won't be in the outside backs," he quipped when asked where he will play. "I'll be in the forward pack. I might play a role coming off the bench where I fill a middle spot or an edge spot.

"You've sort of got to wait and see what the team and what the line-up looks like coming into round 1. I'll just do whatever's best for the team and I'm really looking forward to slotting into a great football side and winning some games."
